Marcela Fialova

The Chairperson of the Supervisory Board at the Institute of Pharmacovigilance, a qualified expert and leader in pharmacovigilance.

Marcela studied medicine at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic and holds a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) as well as a Baccalaureate (Bc) in Healthcare Management from the University of Economics in Prague. Additionally, Marcela received specialized training in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance at the University of London.

Successful career

Marcela gained her practical professional experience at a multinational generic company. There she successfully rose through the ranks in several demanding roles within pharmacovigilance, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs. Afterwards, she joined the world of pharmacovigilance providers, where she successfully built, managed and led a pharmacovigilance department, providing full pharmacovigilance services internationally to global pharmaceutical companies with innovative and generic portfolios. She also acted as EU/UK QPPV, mainly for innovative companies, took part in the integration of pharmacovigilance systems after acquisitions and supported the development of quality management systems.

Reliable and passionate manager

Marcela is a reliable manager who is passionate about encouraging and strengthening the self-confidence of her colleagues, while sharing knowledge and best practices with them. She also acts as a pharmacovigilance trainer, focused mainly on pharmacovigilance systems and processes, their set-up and interactions.

Marcela´s many years of experience have given her a nuanced and expansive understanding of all the different areas of pharmacovigilance, resulting in a unique combination of professional pharmacovigilance and managerial capabilities.
